The text of the Bhagavad Gita consists of a philosophical conversation between Krishna and Arjuna, which takes place on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, before the battle between pandas and cowboys.

Arjuna, one of the five prince brothers of the Warrior Pandavas, questions the expediency of the battle before the decisive battle, as it will kill many people. However, his coach Krishna persuaded Arjuna to take part in the battle, explaining his responsibilities as a military prince, introducing various philosophical systems of Vedanta yoga.

During the conversation, Krishna reveals his divine essence. Demonstrating his omnipotence, Krishna calls himself the Supreme, ultimate philosophical truth - absolute goodness, and bhakti yoga - the path of devotion, the highest practice. Calling Krishna the Most High, Arjuna begins the eighteen-day battle.

For centuries, the Bhagavad Gita has been considered one of the most widely read sacred books, having a profound effect on the life and culture of Indian society. It also influenced Western culture, attracting the attention of Goethe, Emerson, Aldos Huxley, Romain Rolland, and other intellectuals.

Researchers have not been able to pinpoint the exact year or century that the Bhagavad Gita was created. Many scholars agree that the Bhagavad Gita was formed centuries before our Common Era.

In the Bhagavad Gita (4: 1) Krishna says that the knowledge contained therein is first transmitted to mankind through the god of the sun, Vivasvan, and that in ancient times Vivasvan passed that knowledge on to the first man, Manu. According to ancient Indian beliefs and astronomical calculations, the Battle of Kurukshetra took place in the 4th millennium BC.

Based on the poetic style external influences (for example, Patanjali's Yoga Sutra), many scholars believe that the Bhagavad Gita was later incorporated into the Mahabharata and existed as an "independent upanishad" before that.

Bhagavad Gita and Yoga

The term "yoga" has many meanings, but "Bhagavad Gita" mainly describes yoga as a control of the brain. According to Krishna, the basis of all suffering is the damaged brain. The only way to control your desires is to control your thoughts through self-regulation while engaging in higher spiritual activity.

Inaction, however, is considered as undesirable as excessive involvement in activities. According to the Bhagavad Gita, the ultimate goal is to free oneself from material activity and to focus all one's actions on God. This goal can be achieved through yoga, meditation, activity, bhakta և knowledge.

Krishna briefly presents the three main types of yoga: bhakta-yoga, karma-yoga ն jnana-yoga. These paths are different, but their main purpose is almost the same - to understand that Brahman is the original truth, on the basis of which existence exists, that the material body is temporary, that Paramatism is everywhere. The ultimate goal of yoga
